OPENING HOOK

Thesis: Read the NCUA's AI requirements carefully and you'll realize they're not regulatory overhead — they're a blueprint for trustworthy AI.

  • The five NCUA requirement categories (NCUA AI Compliance Plan, September 2025):
    1. Risk management practices — Assess and document AI risks before deployment. (You should be doing this anyway.)
    2. Monitoring and control capabilities — Real-time visibility into what AI systems are doing. (This is just good engineering.)
    3. Termination process — Ability to restrict access immediately, isolate/shut down, archive data, draft documentation, notify stakeholders. (This is the kill switch you need for safety regardless.)
    4. Governance requirements — AI Use Case Inventory, security/privacy/technical reviews by senior officers, comprehensive documentation. (This is the organizational discipline that prevents AI chaos.)
    5. Vendor transparency — Understanding what your AI vendors are actually doing with your data. (This is table stakes in a world of third-party AI risk.)
  • The architectural insight: These five requirements map directly to product features that make AI better, not just compliant:
    • Risk management → Agent trust tiers (training_wheels → supervised → semi_autonomous → autonomous)
    • Monitoring → The Tower (real-time visibility into all Runner activity, costs, outcomes)

ACT 3: THE EXAMINER CONVERSATION YOU WANT TO HAVE

Thesis: The goal isn't to survive your AI examination. It's to make your examiner want to show your infrastructure to every other credit union.

  • Energy level: Authoritative and galvanizing. This is the series finale — the tone should feel like a call to action from someone who's been in the trenches (SEC-examined company, embedded at FCU, flying to DC to shape standards). Not preachy. Not fearful. Confident and clear-eyed.
  • Voice: The voice of someone who has been examined by the SEC and came out stronger for it (Article 2 callback). Someone who knows that compliance, done right, is a competitive weapon. The reader should feel that this person has lived through regulatory scrutiny and is sharing hard-won wisdom.
